I've just had my renewal letter through from Autoaid - it's shot up from £41.19 last year to £59.99 this year. I've been with them for many years, and have been very pleased with the service so far. And I notice they're still one of the "Best Buys" recommended by MSE.

I know they're still a lot cheaper than the "big names", and I suppose if I'm happy with them it makes sense to continue. I just wondered if there's something going on that should make me reconsider - it seems a heck of a big jump in price. Anyone got any insider info ?

Changed ownership a few years ago and now think customers will remain at the higher price. I've been with them for about 25 years and used them twice in that time. Recovering vehicles about 70 miles both times. The higher price will make me look for alternatives and consider going without cover.

The new-ish owners are in the insurance business, and know more about risk assessment than their predecessor.

As a gross generalisation, bottom-of-the-market prices tend to attract disproportionally high-risk customers.

What I do is alternate between it being in my name and the wifes, that way you can get cashback every year. Not a huge discount but every little helps.
  • Gina let mine run out. 50% hike? Your having a laugh.
  • Just got green flag with home start and onward travel for £60. Is that the same cover as autoaid? If so then it’s a good price, if not go with greenflag.

Look on Groupon for a deal.
