O2 credit check fail

Having been an O2 pay & go customer for a number of years I recently decided to move to a monthly contract and get a new phone. My application to change was refused after I failed the credit check. Bemused by this I emailed their credit file referrals (2 days after the order was rejected) and waited (and waited) for a response. I have finally received a reply but it says that as it has taken more than 30 days for them to get back to me they are unable to look into why it was rejected. Their only advice is to apply again.

Am I likely to have success this time? And any other comments would be appreciated (such as reasons it could have been rejected)
