Help! Windows 98 and sky wireless broadband

Dear all computer buffs out there, was wondering if anyone can help? I have an old pc which is running windows 98 which I am donating to some friends who have an IVA (so no money to do anything with it, have been looking in some forums elsewhere and all people have been saying is 'get a new pc' which isn't helpful)
It's got a belkin wireless adaptor and has quite happily connected to wireless broadband before. However, I've been using it as a third system which has had wired b-band (as that's what my boyf's parents have got) but hardly ever used any more.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of setting up Sky wireless b-band on Win 98 with a wireless adaptor and whether they could give me a detailed description of what I need to do.

I've been trying to see if I can connect at home and everything's working, my belkin adaptor can find the wireless networks, it just can't connect to anything and I have no idea why!

Any light shed on the matter would be much, much appreciated!

This thread here shows how to set-up wireless on sky, however you will most likely have to change the mode to b only and the encryption to WEP rather than WPA for it to work with your adaptor on WIN98.

Thanks so much for that it's really helpful! Just a question though, I do need to change to WPA but apparently I can use WEP but it's giving me issues changing it... any ideas?

I'm not sure what you mean. The encryption that you can use will depend on the capabilities of your wireless adaptor/operating system not the router. To make use of WPA encryption on windows XP, SP2 is required to support it. On WIN98 I would assume that you would not be able to use WPA encryption, only the earlier WEP. Obviously you will need to change the encryption at the router first and then at the connecting adaptor.
