My Letter to Village Gym

A car registered to me was given a private parking notice for being parked at my gym, The Village Gym, (a luxury lifestyle gym with memberships at £80+ per month). The gym was running a promotional day and so there were no spaces anywhere in their car park. The driver did not park in a disabled bay and presented no obstruction.
In addition to appealing with the parking company officially, informing my MP, complaining to the IPC (who CPM are a member of), complaining to the gym, I also wrote to the CEO and MD (they're a massive chain) as well as their parent company. The CEO apologised and promised to have the MD take care of the payment. I also wrote to the Village's parent company.
The parking companies' predatory behaviour is disgusting.

You have done everything you possibly could. Well done on doing all of this without asking lots of questions. It's so refreshing to find a poster who has done all their research and acted upon the advice.
I just hope the gym don't pay this scamvoice but instead instruct the scammers to cancel.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 -
Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams so complain to your MP.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Why have you told us this?...bestfootie wrote: »(a luxury lifestyle gym with memberships at £80+ per month).0

Thanks all!! Yes did the research and acted on it!!
I've had the CEO contact the MD to pay it, apologised.
The gym staff themselves wrote to the CPM company and asked them to rescind the ticket. I've got the confirmation email that it's been rescinded. All the complaints etc are still in action though and it's great to see where this goes. Why have you told us this?...
What is the relevance of how much a month the membership costs?
Fair point, though if it's a luxury club then there would arguably be more onus on them to give a !!!! about their members than if it were a complex for a pound shop; it makes a difference.
Has anyone got the link to the site where I can post the success story along with the relevant correspondence? :-)0 -
Yes, you want the link in the NEWBIES thread called 'Successful complaints about PPCs'.
EDIT - i see you found it. Nice result.
Everyone should complain about parking firms, all the time, every day, till they are booted OUT.
A gym doesn't need a parking scammer and should have suspended it for an open day.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
