Try this
Right-click the IE icon on the desktop and choose Run as administrator.
If that option isn't present, try IE shortcut in the Start | Programs menu or the
Quicklaunch Bar0 -
can you try this then
Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons
or use Start | (All) Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet Explorer (No add-ons)
Can you add to favorites now?0 -
ok try this
Open an admin command prompt (right-click Command Prompt and click Run As Administrator)
Browse to the folder that contains your favorites folder and Type:
icacls favorites /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low
Restart Internet Explorer
Now can you access them?

Click Start, in the Start Search box, type command.
A list of of matches will appear above.
Right-click Command Prompt in Programs list

You may be prompted for an administrator confirmation, or a password. Type your password or click Continue.
you should see this
you need to change the file location for instance c:\documents and settings\dave\favorites
now type in the command in red that I posted above
What is the location of your favorites folder?0 -
Where is your favorites folder located?0
-
In your Music folder?
So the filepath is c:\documets and settings\yourname\music\favorites?0 -
Why not just copy your favourite folder back to
C:\Users\your user name\
and see how that works0 -
Just for your info... Vista is unlike XP in the way it works with the favourites folder.. In xp it wont let you delete or move it whereas Vista will. It sounds like you have accidently dragged it ino your music folder0
-
Try moving it back as the path given is the default path.
C:\USERS\your user name\
Just put favourites there or make a new folder called favourites and see if it works... The favourite folder should always have been there and would have been there when you bought it in june regardless of when you had favourites.0 -
in that case go back to the Command prompt again
at the command prompt, type in
cd boyfriends name\Music\favorites
press enter
now type in
icacls favorites /setintegritylevel (OI)(CI)low
press enter
