Curious about Next refund to Amex

Well, it's logical and that's the only way it can make sense.0
-
Maybe the bar code itself is not unique but the labels contain some form of stock control number which allows the sale transaction to be identified.0

Better watch out, people; the day is coming when there will be codings in our clothing (or woven into the fabric) that will allow our every move to be watched - just make sure you don't buy any second hand clothing from criminals on the run or you might get picked up by the fuzz - and that can be very painful!
Now, where did I put that tin hat?0 -
I am so glad you've posted this!
Every time I take back an online order to Next I am always so confused as to how they can refund it to my account without seeing my invoice (although I keep meaning to pay more attention as to whether I hand it over or not).
This is even when I only have one item, so it does appear they have unique item barcodes.0 -
I checked the receipt yesterday evening and each item has a long number below it - the first 6 digits are the product code (which you can see on the website item details), the rest are a unique sequence.
We only bought one of each item, so can't confirm that they are unique per item, but it does lend weight to the explanation given.
PS. Next don't have a loyalty card (that I'm aware of?)0
