O/S Daily Tuesday 21st May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly, those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Bright with sunshine to start the day here.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa of the day with my porridge.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg. I had baked fish and vegetables. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost, we'll have it roasted with LO veg - hairdresser is coming tonight so will be a bit later.
Yesterday work was either dead or manic, we'll see what today brings. It's my early finish day today - so nice to get away a bit early.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Bright and sunny this morning, not a cloud in the sky. Washing on the line and a humongous slug salted - it was on its way to my sweet peas!
Speky - Ask for a works credit card, you shouldn't be out of pocket even for a few days.
Well done on the job Cranky, the hours sound perfect for you.
Welcome Blackcat - we like cake!
I met an ex work colleague/friend for something to eat after work yesterday, lovely it was too. Good to catch up with all her news too.
I think I'm going to Costco after work today, I bought a new swimming cossie that is far too small, could hardly stand up! Not sure if I bought a size 12 or an age 12. Anyway, hopefully they still have them and I can get one that is considerably bigger.
Hope you all have a good day, hope the poorlies are on the mend. Still missing tru. Take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. A day of wall to wall sunshine all day for us if the forecast is right.
TAFF you could have been right when you said washing curtains was a step too far - in fact I went two steps too far as I washed two pairs!! By the time I had washed and ironed all the DGDs' bedding, ironed the curtains and re-hung them I was shattered! It made up for my slothful Sunday! I have still to sort the voile for the landing window but that can wait!
A much easier day in store for today. It's my regular Tuesday meet up with my oldest buddy this morning. A couple of coffees and a good old natter, followed by lunch. I have double withdrawal symptoms from the Cheese and Broccoli Bake I am addicted to as last week it was off the menu due to delivery problems. We were assured it would be back on the menu for today!
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. TAFF hope the leg pain has eased a bit and you got some sleep. HH how's the voluntary work search going. SILVER OLDIE thinking of you. Take care all xx

Morning all
Running late as I just couldnt get out of bed this morning ! Its a nice day here and meant to get really quite warm.
TA I meant to say to you yesterday you can get a voile type roller blind I have them in the lounge and windows at the front of you house, you can see through them but people cant see in and they let all the light in :T
Right need to dash as running late.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning folks.
I aim to be at the door of JL when it opens at 9.30. When I was in town on Sunday I tried to return a jumper but couldn't as I'd used my mobile to pay and it was broken. Now it's fixed the jumper is going back today.
DM had a fairly good day, she spent the morning in bed and then got herself up and dressed for her visitors at 2pm. She managed to stay in the living room until about 6pm. Today the domiciliary dentist is coming at 4pm.
The sun is trying to get out, am hoping for a fine day.
OL - everyone should have a will. Those who don't bother just leave terrible trouble behind for the family. Being intestate is dreadful all round and leads to family feuds and huge legal problems. Second worst are DYI wills where intentions are badly thought out and or badly worded. You do right.
TA. - my fingers are crossed for a successful lunch!
Happy Tuesday to all0 -
Morning everyone
Like you I've woken up to lovely sunshine Camelot. It is certainly a nice start to the day
.
Nothing really planned for today, a little pottering around the house. I will try and sort out the cupboard in the hallway as well. It is a regular job because anything that doesn't seem to have a home anywhere else ends up in there. At least all the junk is on place.
Dinner will be something quick and easy from the freezer, I'm not sure what yet.
Congratulations on the job Cranky.
I've logged on to my email account and there is an application form for one voluntary job been emailed over. I've just had a quick look and it is a detailed as an application form when applying for a job TA. I'll have to ask some people for references.
OL I think it is sensible to have will.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's another beautiful sunny morning here and I am so cross that I am stuck indoors . Even if I could leave, the bus company have decided in their wisdom to cut all the services that run to this part of town as there is 'no call for them'. It is such a shame and will have a real impact on all the people here who don't have a car. It is going to affect Steve as well and will add an extra half an hour walk on a week day for work. I will be writing a letter of complaint to the bus company but I don't hold out much hope that they will change their minds.
My grandson has just arrived on his own today as his sister is away on a school trip to London. It is cetainly a lot quieter with just one grandchild :rotfl:. He is plugged into his tablet watching youtube videos so it is definitely quiet. He smelled so gorgeous when he came in as he has sunscreen on and it is very coconutty, made me feel like I was in the tropics
:D.
I am going to make a moroccan spiced shepherdess pie for dinner just for me as I want a few meatless days. I have found a few good recipes on the weightwatchers site so I will give them a whirl this week. The family are having chicken burgers and chips with salad for dinner tonight.
Welcome to Blackcat, hope you stick around and I luuurve lemon drizzle cake xx
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone,
Thanks everyone for your advice on credit cards yesterday. I'll need to get something in place soon as I seem to be away with work on a monthly basis these days. Camelot - I take your point but their argument is that it get's paid back eventually in expenses. Not my preference.
Well and truly back into the route yesterday as I stayed in the office till around 7. From there, I went straight to yoga which was really enjoyable. Became conscious of the progress I've made for the first time.
No gym this morning as I'll do some sort of exercise tonight; either boxing or the gym. Need to squeeze in an hour to finally watch the finale of GoT. Although I think I accidentally read a spoiler. Damn!
No spends yesterday marked number 9 for the month, with no planned spends today either.
TA - Fingers crossed the cheese broccoli bake is on, for their sake!!
Organza - It's not something I've looked into but I'm sure there's tons of advice on the MSE website about it all.
Gers - Great to hear of your DM's growing strength. Long may it continue.
Dumpling - How have your legs been?0 -
Morning all! Pain in leg was much less yesterday or I was successful with the painkillers [ still off the usual nightitme painkillers in case]. In fact, it was so much less I decided to put up my new compost bin [ it looks so lovely, all neat and pretty], strim and mow the lawn. I was a bit puffed after that though. Made fajita fillings [ ww standby and OH loves them, he'd eat them every day if he could] and there's enough for tonight.
Woke up with pain early so got up, popped some more PK's and then decided to weed around the back, one bucket done, then plant out the geraniums out the front, done and a spot of light weeding.
Have to drop off some posh trousers to a friend after for her interview, choice of two, polka dot or plain black...
Speky, hope you get that sorted, it's not fair for a company to expect you to pay out in arrears when they are th eones who are benefiting [think interest on money, even if it's miniscule, it's still yours not theirs] dumplaing, same question as speky...Holly, that's good news, and you can always ask anyone here for a reference
TA, well...you enjoy your peripatetic day and broccoli and cheese
no more curtains for a while...Gers, good to hear, looks like she knows the pitfalls of backsliding now and is making more of an effort. RR, good to know, could do with one for the landing window. OL good choice, I did it last year with a solicitor, it was pricey, but then, it was a bit complicated, it was for both of us, but they've acted for me buying two houses and some other stuff and I trust them. It was good to know there won't be any fighting or arguing or mistaken intention, he said/she said type stuff. Camelot, that made me snigger

Good morning and thank you for the warm welcome. I'm working from home today which is a great opportunity to get the washing on the line. When I finish work for the day and undertake the journey from my office to the conservatory (about 10 steps) I shall finish off a granny square baby blanket that I've made for a neighbour's new baby - I shall literally be tying up the loose ends. It's a fifth baby so I thought it would be nice to make something personal for her. Although I'm pleased with it I'm full of self doubt as I have rarely gifted anything I've made. I nearly lost my nerve yesterday and bought an item of clothing for the baby. I did buy wrapping paper - the first well known card shop were charging £2 for a sheet of wrapping paper - when did a sheet of paper start to cost £2?????i went a few shops down to the "Factory" version of card shops and bought a roll for £2 in a pretty but versatile design which will last for a few further gifts.0

Short answer...manky.
Still struggling to walk and have to use a stick all the time now. I really should get the nurses back to have a look but I don't want to be a bother
:o.
Thank you all for asking though
