Hi guys and girls,

Does anyone have any experience/tales of happiness/tales of woe regarding the Suzuki Alto?

Cheers

Friend of mine had one. I drove it many times (including on the motorway). Very impressed.

    Road tax is cheap too.

my sil has one now and it seems a good little basic car for him. was very cheap to buy. i understand its made in india and i don't fancy his chances if he gets hit by any big modern car though but it seems to get him around on the motorways and country roads ok.

    Have a look here: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/
Go to the car by car bit at the top and you can find out information about any car - I've always found their reviews to be pretty good.

    I have a suzuki Alto, 2000 model..

Not sure what the new model is like but I have nothing but problems with my Alto..
Fair enough it runs well albeit not very powerfully, and is very cheap on Petrol, but once your warrenty runs out and anything goes wrong you are in for a shock!

During the first 3 yrs I had the car (while it was still under warrenty) it was back in the garage on average every 2 months...

When I bought it they'd actually forgot to connect the radio and cigarette lighter...
both front suspension arms went within a year,
plus the bearings on one of the wheels
The bonnet rusted through withing 3 years, but luckily there's a 5yr rust warrenty so i got that replaced for free
the wind screen wipers packed in (whilst doing 70 down the fast lane on the motorway in the pouring rain)
It took them 5 months to totally fix them as they kept telling em they were fixed but then would break again
All the seals around the windows went rusty and I only managed to get 3 replaced as they swore blind they'd already replaced the 4th no matter how many times I told them they hadn't (and it was very obvious as it was falling off and still is)

I have had various other problems whilst it was in warrenty, small ones but would have been costly to fix..

Now it is out of warrenty I am finding it VERY expensive to fix it...
The suspension arm went again, which I had to pay for, and now the cooling fan has packed in, and the heater fan.
    And as it is a japanese car most of the parts can only be got from Suzuki themselves, and to give an example of ho much that costs;
The heater fan will cost £350 just for the part!!!!!!!

I just thought I'd better add my piece and warn you.. its a great little car when its still under warrenty, but when it runs out, it'd be best to sell it and get another car if something goes wrong as it will cost the earth..

That said tho.. my car is still running, and it is nearly 8yrs old, but half the bits have fallen off and I have no heat or cooling... Poor thing is still battling on :rotfl:

I hired one, it had a TURBO boost button, really!!!

Well, when you hit the ''AC' button to turn it off it doubled the power up hill!!!
