We went out to Sunday lunch at my dad's local pub, hubby had steak and chips, I had Mac & cheese, it was free as my lovely dad paid!!
    Does this count?

Probably the quiche I made from 1/2 a pack of YS 15p puff pastry, a pack of YS eggs (4p per egg - 16p), some scraps from a gammon we had last week which were destined for the food waste & a handful of frozen peas (~20p)

    = 44p!

  • Not sure if this counts as the initial outlay was big, but on Sunday I treated my family (5 of us) to an Indian meal delivery. I'm currently unable to move around much so they cooked one meal and I ordered in the other.

So, Monday tea hubby and I had our choice of leftovers. Today lunch we ate the leftover naan with soup, and had more leftover curries for tea. Tomorrow there is still enough for one more meal. So, ordered for 5 and did for 11 !

    Morning everyone

Wow - some really good bargain meals! Mine was veg I found in the veg drawer of the fridge - mostly bendy/past it's best veg - that I chopped up and stir fried off with a smidge of chilli tomato sauce and some tomato puree and some water to make a sauce - all the veg would have been binned if not used up. So reasonably cheap.

    Keep safe and well x

  • Re ‘muddy mushroom soup’ if you only use white mushrooms chicken stock, cream and white onion, it should be a nice colour. Blend thoroughly after cooking for an unctuous treat.
  • I was feeling lazy yesterday so had 'spaghetti aglio, olio e peperoncino' which is a legit Italian dish but is just spaghetti with garlic, olive oil and chilli flakes. Using a 20p pack of spaghetti from L!dl and a diet-friendly amount of olive oil makes it a very cheap meal!
