Today I bought lambs liver from the meat counter @ Waitrose.
Two packs which cost me the princely sum of £0.26 and £ 0.30.

One pack in the freezer and the other will make two meals which I combined with sliced mushrooms and mashed potato.

What`s your bargain of the week?

Now you’ve upset me. I was feeling really good at getting two meals worth of bargain lambs kidneys for 85p, also from Waitrose. My balloon is well and truly burst.

    And I beat that

Broccoli soup - made from the stalks of broccoli which would have been thrown away after I cut the florets of for sale, two spuds, also liberated from the waste and a handful of fine diced onions, also going to the bin :p

I think mine is breakfast each morning. Boiled egg on round of toast.

Im lucky that I work in veg prep. I can help myself to "waste". Like mushrooms turning brown. over ripe fruit etc and as much as I like of spuds, carrots, turnip, onions, parsnips and leeks so am getting lots of free or near free meals

Wow-you were lucky to get there first!
  • We have soup blitzed up from leftovers once a week...usually Sat. lunch and an end of week 'fridge' day...often omelette with cheese, leftover boiled spuds, bits and pieces of veg or just plain with the last of the toms etc. Great with a tin of plum toms and both meals just pennies.

Best value meal of my day is breakfast though...always get whatever yellow sticker bread is about (5-10p and freeze it) and have 1 or 2 slices of toast with home made bramble jam or some butter.
