Help with One Drive...

Can anyone cast a light on what's happening with this?
I reinstalled W10 a few weeks back and had the option to enable One Drive. Thinking you can never have too many backup options I went ahead and let it install. . .
First problem: The My Doc's link on the desktop now goes only to One Drive! I've opened up the root of C: and gone to the local doc's folder (C:/Users/name/docs) and made a link to that folder, but that link now opens One Drive instead?
Anyone know how to get the system to make a link to the local doc folder and stick there?
Second: I dumped 8 folders to One Drive, watched some of them go over (ie, the green ticks light up as the files went over). Came back the next day and nothing there?? Not a single folder or file that I copied over on that session. Older stuff is there, but not the newer?
Is it that unreliable that it's not worth using??
Thanks

I use it all the time, but with corporate and personal accounts, and have never noticed any problems to be honest.0
