MusicMagpie credit cards declined

in Credit cards
I tried buying an iPhone on MusicMagpie Saturday and I was declined three times with 'Do no honour 2000' (means bank declined the transaction).
I tried my Halifax credit card twice, took me through to Halifax secure verification, and stopped almost instantly and took me back to payment.
I then tried my Santander credit card, passed Santander secure and then it took me back to payment. Except this time I got text and emailed from Santander saying a purchase of £284 has just been transacted and it was as of last night showing in my pending transactions.
Only thing is I got no email confirmation, and nothing in my bought list on MusicMagpie.
I called them just now and they checked that Halifax didn't go through, and that Santander got further but didn't go through, AKA MusicMagpie hasn't received any money thus no confirmation of order.
He said it was my banks declining, but I said it was odd that two different banks declined transactions on your website. I've never been declined on a credit card before (presumably because you're covered against Section 75) and you don't have to put in a password on MasterCard Secure. He said contact the banks but I want this phone at this price, so what's to say this wouldn't happen again?
Anyone else had issues on MusicMagpie?

So.. first and foremost... have you done this yet?0 -

Section 75 doesn't affect a card being accepted or not. It sounds like a temporary system problem.
If you want the phone at that price, I would try again.0 -
Not yet because I'm at work. I've used my credit card for two other transactions of £140 and £90 in the past two days as well and they went through fine.0

True but I've never had a credit card be declined. When I used to use debit cards online, they'd someone times be temporarily declined until I confirmed it or I'd have to put in digits of a password. I just thought it was odd that two different banks were declining me purchasing on this specific website.0

I would call the bank - I have had a card declined before and I called them and they were very helpful and explained why.0

I went in branch as I was walking past one earlier and they said that it was cancelled one second after being charged. Santander said that as Halifax did the same, it's MusicMagpie's fault as they had no reason on their system for declining and she couldn't see why it would.0

My guess is there was a communication error or no response somewhere in chain of authorisation.
It's happened to me.
Other examples:
CARD CHAOS Aldi shoppers fury after IT glitch leaves stores unable to accept card payments:ALDI shoppers were forced to abandon trolleys full of groceries in supermarkets across the country yesterday after an IT glitch caused its card payment system to crash.
Payments were rejected in branches across the country, with customers only able to pay in cash.
Visa card payments system returns to full capacity after crash:Millions of people were left unable to pay for goods and services across Europe after the unprecedented crash, which began at around 2.30pm.
Those stories are not related to what happened to OP. They are simply to illustrate payment systems fail.0 -

I think this is similar to what happened. I ended up finding the phone for £45 less on Handtec than MusicMagpie, so it actually did me a favour!0
