O/S Daily Monday 20th May 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Dull, dreich start to the day, looks like it could rain - we'll see.
DH and DS1 now getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and just eaten my porridge and enjoying first cuppa of the day. DS2 settled and ok.
Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Tonight will be fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg.
Yesterday we visited the parents then we chilled at home.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Lovely weekend with the DGC, they were on good form. I bought them some scooters so they were quite happy. Also went to softplay on Saturday as it was a bit wet and swimming yesterday where it was a lot wet! DD and BF came over for lunch too so a busy house.
Washing on the line, looks like it could brighten up later. I'll tidy the house when I get home later.
Hope your move is going well Nanny.
Sounds like your DM is settling in well Gers.
Hugs to the poorlies.
Happy Monday, take care. XX0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. The sun is trying to get out here and we are forecast sunny intervals - still no rain. I'm sure we can't on escaping it!
After doing nowt but sit on my arris most of yesterday I must get myself out of idle mode today and tackle a few jobs. Need to change the DGDs' beds for starters and their curtains look as though they could do with a wash too.
Not much in the way of cooking to do today as l/o meat, veg and gravy from yesterday will warm up nicely for tea. Maybe omelette for lunch as my stock of eggs are fast approaching their use-by date.
Hope the caravan trippers got off on their travels safely and are enjoying nice weather. GERS sounds like DM is doing really well. TAFF how's that pain in your leg - try and take it easy. HOLLY good luck with the search for some voluntary work. Charity shops always seem to be crying out for help around here. SILVER-OLDIE thinking of you. Take care all and ((HUGS)) for all who need them xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to those in need.
Busy day ahead, CHS seems to have arranged to take his injured friend for lunch somewhere, I don't mind but I need to get the weekly shop, visit a pet shop for stuff for Beano and collect a prescription from the surgery and get it filled at a pharmacy and get a sick note for CHS, the last one was issued for two weeks instead of two months. Anything to do with the Dr's takes ages as there are always mistakes made that need to be rectified. I also need to drop a card off with DD2 as it was her birthday yesterday.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -

Dull and overcast and meant to rain later, the weekend was good weather at least !!
We bbq'd last night but it was too cold to sit out in it for any time so we ate in the conservatory.
Some kind of fish for dinner tonight I have cod salmon and tuna in the freezer so will do one of them, I might do a kedgeree type meal.
DP1 my fil offered me the use of his electric bike, I told him that kind of defeated the object for me
I have decided to get a little more practice before cycling to work, I was worrying about it last night so much so that it kept me awake ( which is not at all like me) so thought I should maybe get a bit more used to it before cycling to work.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
SO, I hope things are going ok.
Cranky, happy birthday for yesterday.
OL, I'm thankful neither of mine wanted a motorbike, shudder.
Redruby, I have an electric bike and it's great - you still have to pedal but when you're going uphill it's as if you are still on the flat. I wouldn't be able to keep up with Steve without it, although we've not been out yet this year.
I cleaned our bedroom thoroughly yesterday. Steve always has a lot of tat and rubbish on and around his bedside table so I transferred it all to his side of the bed so that I could dust properly. I left it there for him to sort and it was still there when he came to bed after midnight. He just put it all on the floor grrr. If it's still there after today I shall sort it and I have much more stringent ideas on what needs to be binned than he does.
I also tidied my overflow fabric area in one of the spare bedrooms, I'm afraid I'd just been dumping stuff in there but it's tidy now.0 -
Morning everyone
I had a pretty chilled weekend and didn't seem to get much done. I watched a lot of TV and finished my book
.
Yesterday I started to clean the kitchen and found a lot of small marks on the tiles I had cleaned last week so I clearly didn't make a very good job of it. So today is giving the kitchen a proper clean. changing the bed and having a vacuum round.
I bought some bits and pieces in from the outside freezer yesterday that I want to use up so dinner will be a cod with salad and new potatoes.
Gers I'm pleased that your mum is settling in ok.
Silver Oldie I hope that you are coping ok.
Hester Beano is lovely he seems to be settling in well
.
Taff I hope that the leg pain is settling down now.
I hope all of those on holiday are having a good time. I think that is Gintotmelina, ScarletRibbons and NannyWindow, sorry if I have missed anyone.
Have a good day everyone.0 -
Morning

Gorgeous day here blue sky and warm so the windows are thrown open and a wash on to get out.
Nose back to the grindstone today. After a week of ignoring emails and galavanting round the country its time to get back to being a normski again. No booked work today so its catch up time. Yesterday I confess I did !!!!!! all but I did really need it so feel like today is tick that list time
Food wise still clearing the remnants from having a full fridge so could be a few strange combinations today Back to freezer mission soon.
Rubes cant you chose to have electric or not with those bikes? Seems like a good idea to me particularly for those long slog Fridays
OL hope youngest changes his mind that would be a real worry I bet
Right time to start that list

Happy Monday everyone,
I certainly feel well rested, but another couple of hours in bed wouldn't have went a miss.
My weekend was really nice and relaxing. On Friday, I went for dinner at my bosses house with a few of his friends. Nice scran followed by watching the football. On Saturday I got back into my usual routine of yoga in the morning followed by a visit to the SM and then some house chores. It had been a while since I baked something not healthy and since I was off my diet, I made a white chocolate sponge. Delish! Sunday was even more lazy as I didn't make it out the house with various things.
So, back to it today. I visit Berlin on Friday for 2 days with work. Here's a question my fellow MSE friends can help with...
I was thinking of taking out a credit card which I would use exclusively for expenses and I would pay it off when my company pay me back, 4 weeks later. But don't you need to pay off your credit card (in Martin's voice...) "IN FULL" at the end of every month?
Camelot - That sounds like a great weekend for the DGC.
Organza - When my goldfish died a couple of months ago, I really surprised myself when I struggled to get rid. So I share your fear!
Holly - Lovely to see you back here regularly

Morning all.
Cold here! Not quite the summer hoped for yet.
I've been awake for ages, just lying in bed finishing off a book I've had on the go for a while. DM is having her first cup of tea. We have cancelled the carer service as DM can manage her abultions without help now and wants to get more independent - doesn't stop me worrying but I have to stop hovering like an anxious 'parent'.
Plans for today include taking back the Zimmer frame which the hospital insisted DM bring home last week despite being told that there are already two in the house. I'll also take in a couple of thank you cards for the staff. In the afternoon a friend is coming to visit DM so I need to buy some cake.
I need to start walking again, my sore knee and hip are causing me problems so they need exercise and I need to lose weight. I've been so rubbish at eating control as I'm a comfort eater through and through. Now that the crisis is over I need to balance myself again.
There's some parcels to take back to M&S and JL - DM needs new clothes and the ones I've bought are still too big for her. I took one jumper back to JL yesterday but couldn't return it as I had paid on Apple pay and my mobile was still dead, now it's sorted I'll have to go back.
My thoughts are with those struggling with tough times and I wish everyone a happy Monday.0 -

Best to go over to the banking forum as there are some knowledgable folk about this over there. Or have a read of this article

Would your company not issue you with a credit card? My last full time company did that and it saved so much hassle.0
