Notice Period enforceable?

Best thing is sort a new job to start as close as possible to when the unwanted job transfers you wages/ salary that month so that you can phone in sick

Where do I stand on this? Any advice?

Problem is you did not resign before getting told.

I Actually did resign, and only AFTER handing my notice in writing did they then send me written statement with my notice period

I'm really curious how this works?

Every notice I have written has been along the lines of;

'Please accept this letter as my formal notice of resignation. I will work a notice period of one month, with my last effective day of employment with your company being the 20th June 2019. etc. etc. etc'

How you submitted a notice, without knowing your notice, is fascinating.

I basically said ‘Accept this as my notice of resignation, thanks for the opportunity blah, and I will work my notice period before leaving’ (and then I emailed HR to get my notice period and I was sent my written statement and found its 3 months lol)

That's not what you said but OK lets go with that now.

while in discussions on a notice period give them a limited time offer to leave early BUT stipulate if they do not agree you will want paying your full notice even if they then ask you to leave early.

Turn up every day on time and go home on time.
go into I am leaving mode.

You've put it in writing then that you will be working your notice period; you could walk out sooner I am sure but run the (small, it seems) risk of being pursued for costs. Depending upon the industry as well it might be best to keep the best relationship with your employers that you can in case you become known as unreliable.

Its very amateurish I know, jumped the gun. Anyway, got meeting with my line manager tomorrow who knows I want to leave, so will probably come to some sort of compromise and reduced period. Will update in due course.
