O/S Daily Saturday 18th May 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning folks and thanks SO for the start. Cloudy and still here and forecast to remain so all day. Yesterday was sunny with a chilly wind and I got two washer loads dry outside in record time.

There was no need to be up and at 'em this morning as there are no children to organise and the decorator has finished. But I was still up at silly o'clock though I am slobbing around in my dressing gown and yet to go in the shower.

The house is back to normal now, everything is back in it's rightful place again and all decorating equipment gone. It even got a good dust and vac round everywhere when I had finished. I then got my feet up and dozed off!

I might get the bus into town later, if I can be arrised, as there are odd bits I am wanting that I can't get in the sm. Plus, for a bit of light entertainment, there's some ironing from yesterday but no rush for that.

Have as good a day as you can folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Thinking of you all and take care xx

    Morning everyone

SO - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly, and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dull, dreich and damp here this morning, it's been raining during the night but has stopped at the moment but looks like it'll start again any time.

DH and myself enjoying first cuppas of the day, I'm showered, dressed and just finished my porridge, I'm working today. DS1 still in his pit, and DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was a naughty egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, hash browns, beans and mushrooms, lovely it was too. Tonight the menfolk will be having steak and ale pie, chips and beans/peas. I'll be having mushroom omelette and salad or something similar.

I got done what I wanted yesterday, so had a chilled couple of hours in the afternoon. We'll just potter about later.

    Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks SO for starting.

It's dull and damp here, it started raining at about 8pm last night.

Glad you've got the house sorted out TA, it's a nice feeling when everything's done and tidy.

Gers. hope your Mum has settled in back at home.

Thank you all for the good wishes for our holiday, "see" you when we get back, though I might post on my phone, but I'll certainly be keeping up.

    Take care folks xx

Who stole the sunshine? It's cloudy and grey outside and has been raining overnight, more later I think. I don't have a wash load today, got it done and dried when I got home from work yesterday. Only a pair of trousers to iron, they can wait!

Have great holidays Scarlet and Nanny.
Hope your DM is settling back at home Gers.
    Hugs to those in need.

I need to go shopping soon, DS1 and the DGC are arriving this morning and there's hardly any food in the fridge. DD and BF coming over tomorrow for dinner so better get organised.

Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX

    Morning all.

Thanks for the thread SO, hugs to you and anyone else in need.

I was awake for two or three hours last night so I overslept, Beano woke me at ten past six as he needed to go out.

We moved yesterday and Beano was very good and soon learned to stay in his bed when the boat was moving. We will move again today but only so we can wind (turn around). Hopefully we can moor back in the same place but facing the other way.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning :)

Back from Blackpool after a lovely couple of days. Always think its a real good fun place to visit but great to come away from too. We did all the usual tat stuff and my friend has a case full of rock, bags of candy floss, fridge magnets and other awful souvenirs to take back to the states. I apologise now to all her friends and family who may well think thats representative of the UK :D

The fascinator stayed on for the whole trip which caused a few odd looks around Blackpool as I'm sure you can imagine  Weather stayed fabulous bar an hour of rain on the Friday morning but that was all done and dusted by 10am. Funny Girls was fantastic although I somehow managed to mis place my voice withe all the singing :o still croaky this morning.

So today is chill day as we haven't stopped for a week and my feet are just about useless now...nothing new there then. I have a duck to cook for dinner which I am going to slow cook and do crispy duck pancakes. Will knock up a pud too at some point and we will snaffle it all whilst watching Eurovision tonight .....can you believe the state has an entry :rotfl: some kind of odd Europe this is

Anyway hope everyone has a fab day. Keep smiling :)

Good morning chums, and hugs to the ones who are finding life tough at the moment .
Indeed someone has sneaked in and pinched the sunshine i know it was here and now its vanished ,Hmm very odd,but it will return I'm sure.

Nelski I do hope you behaved in Blackpool and didn't sit up half the night glugging vino and nattering as we did on the 'meet' all those years ago :) remember with age comes sensibility :):):) or perhaps not in our case :)

Gosh yes its Eurovision tonight :) good for a giggle :) at the outfits if not the songs .

hester hope the turn around goes OK and you can get the spot back :)Imagine just turning your house around, sounds great really as I would be looking at my back garden instead of my neighbours houses across the road ,much nice I think I lived on a golf course for 24 years and had no one in front of us, and when we moved it seemed very odd to see cars passing and people walking past that were not pushing a golf bag :)

Scarlet and Nanny hope you have a great time on your Hols, and I prescribe more fish and chips for your DM Gers, sounds like it perks her up a treat.

TA trreat yourself to a nice relaxing day and a cuppa in town :)you deserve it Its always so nice when you can get your house back to normal isn't it My Dd has had a plasterer in skimming one of the boys bedrooms ceilings and the whole house is in a muddle at the moment,They live in a three storey town house and its a bit of a nightmare finding places to move stuff to.I am picking DGS Jack up from Uni tomorrow as his last exam of the term has finished so I will be bringing even more stuff back with us as he is not back to Uni until the autumn, I have a feeling my spare room will be used for some storage.

SO I hope you can grab a bit of a power nap later to recharge your batteries.

I stuck a wash on last night so that will be going on the line shortly as soon as I finish my cuppa, its bright enough and a slight breeze but as yet no sun.
Several groups of chaps have just past my house obviously on their way to Wembley by the looks of them, I live about five minutes from the local station, they all look quite jolly and have scarves and rosettes etc.Good luck to both teams as its the last match of the season and Yay its Wimbledon next month. Sadly no Sir Andy to cheer for I enjoy watching the men's singles ,but are not so keen on the noisy women and all that yelling and grunting ,not very ladylike at all :):)

Right time to get a wriggle on I hope everyone has a great weekend and the sun creeps back for us all.

I will be up and on the motorway in the morning ,hopefully the traffic won't be too bad,

    Take care chums

Just a quick pop by before I attack the day........ or it attacks me :rotfl:.
This morning it's into town to collect Mr Fix it's new specs ( I'll check if mine are in too but probably not, so it will be a case of getting mine after the hols ). Home for a snack lunch then off to see a matinee performance of Joseph with DD, returning about 6pm and maybe via the chippy :D.
I shall leave Mr Fix it a list of things to do in my absence, just to keep him out of mischief :rotfl: as I've still got a million things to do.
Tomorrow we go away to Zumerzet for just under 2 weeks and as there is no Wi Fi, I will wish everyone safe and well until I return.
    Take care all

    Morning folks.

Hester - Beano looks lovely, really bright!

TA - bet you're glad everything is done and dusted.

Camelot - enjoy your time with the DGC even though the weather is grotty.

Nelski - feet up...head down time

Scarlet and Nan - I hope you both have restful holidays.

JackieO - weren't you supposed to be slowing down???

The carer arrived on time and took DM off for her first shower at home. I took the chance to nip out to get DM's paper and by the time I got by she was all dressed. Carer reported that DM managed everything by herself :j She's now sitting on the bed eating her porridge and reading the paper. A friend is coming to visit this afternoon so I'll go out for the shopping then. So far I am mightly relieved.

I'm just about to have some breakfast too and then wait to be summoned for more tea, or to heat up the cold tea!

    Happy Saturday to all.
