We've been here so many times. Just get on with it with the help of the people here. I'm sure you were saying exactly the same thing years ago...about getting a new system. Just get on with it..:money:0 -
I suppose the answer as to why Microsoft is unwilling to support old software is the overhead of so many versions
3.1
Win 95
Win 98
ME
2000
XP
Vista
7
8
8.1
10
It has to stop sometime. As to why XP and not Vista when XP is older perhaps the numbers still using XP is significant and the Vista numbers are not.
I agree with others. Bite the bullet and get a newer OS.0 -

And that is why companies are still running xp. If the developers are around you could ask them? You may have to upgrade the software, or repuchase it? With bespoke software it not just about buying a new os.
Providing that your Vista PC is not connected to an odd bit of hardware like a scanner, or specialist printer etc. it probably could and would be prudent to copy the disk onto vitualbox which makes it less PC and hardware dependant, and you vista pc work also work in multiple place until things get sorted0 -
I am still using Windows 3.0 and can't remember when I received the last security update !!
ps) I am joking !0 -

Well the purpose of the thread was just to find out why a security update didn’t appear when recent news suggests there is one.0 -

It has stopped, MS have said there will never be another version after 10. Instead there are massive, and potentially damaging (1809 anyone?), updates every 6 months. The latest update has apparently just come out although I'm not sure when it will be pushed out to everyone.

Vista should be quietly put to sleep. Dreadful O/SMr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.0

So you'll just keep on procrastinating and then coming back here when you have another problem with Vista...which no one else is using?
Swap the current HDD for an SSD, clean install Windows 10 to it. No possibility for you to mess anything up with your old data, as you won't be touching it.
Performance will increase, possibly substantially. Cost as little as £17.0 -

Paying out for what? It costs either nothing or a couple of £s for a licence to run Windows 10. Just an excuse for your inertia methinks.
If you actually stop messing around, you might find that you don't need a new system at all.
Many here will be using devices just as old if not older than yours. They still have a lot of life in them.0
