Flights booked for the summer with Thomas Cook airlines

Thanks sillygoose
We're flying with Thomas Cook in 11 days (package holiday) so have been slightly nervous about what could possibly happen.
We have booked travel insurance some months ago & paid by direct debit, it's just how another poster said up thread about organising time off work, ensuring we're going in school holidays etc, etc!
Don’t worry, you will be fine. Just look forward to your holiday.0 -
Thomas Cooks have been pushing customers to pay by direct debit, as it costs them less than the credit card fees which they can no longer pass on. However, if money is coming out of your current account it gets no protection at all under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act and if you are buying a product that is not an ATOL protected package, such as a flight on its own, now may be the time to insist you want to pay on your credit card0

Flight only have to be paid for in full at time of booking and can not be done by Direct debit payments. A lot of customers therefore do normally pay for flight only by credit card for the protection.0 -

What makes you think that's not possible? I can't think of any type of payment that can't be made by DD as long as the seller offers the facility and the buyer agrees to it, and I can see no reason why flights should be any exception to that.0 -
Well clearly it is possible but I dont know of any airline that allows you to buy flight only by monthly direct debit. Reason for this? No idea.0

All flight tickets we've bought have been immediate payment at the time of booking.
Does anyone know of an airline that allows you to book flight tickets and pay by DD?0 -

I work for Thomas Cook and you have to pay for flight only in full so therefore full payment means nothing to DD. Thomas Cook doesn't offer the facility thats what i was saying.
The only exceptions are if you buy a flight with something attached to it ie a hotel for a few days or car hire etc.
The other exception is if you can get a depositable airfare normally scheduled flights with Virgin, BA, Emirates etc and normally they cost more than if you pay in full.
I don't know any low cost carriers that allow you to pay a deposit on flight only. Feel free to prove me wrong.0 -
I'm flying with them in August and I'm not worried - I was caught up in the Monarch failure, so I feel like I've had my fair-share of issues!
