Home buyers report gas/elec recommendation

Hi if someone can please help, im in the process of buying a house in cardiff, it is about 50 years old and still has the original back boiler.

Im struggling to find a company that would provide a home buyers report inspection/safety certificates.

Could anyone recommemd a company that would do this in the area.

Many thanks

surveyors do home buyers surveys. They are not electricians, they are surveyors. They are not gas engineers, they are surveyors.

    Search

    Or for a surveyor:

  • Thanks for the info, to clarify we have had a survey done, which recommended "as im sure they all do" that we have the gas an electric checked, ive found a few recommemd companies that do both for around £175 on previous form posts but none that cover the cardiff area.

If the boiler is the original, if you plan to replace it as part of the move then why get it checked? Depends on timescales I guess.

Same with the electrics, you can get them tested but if you are intending to rewire it then decide if it is worth it? A sparky can test it and tell you it is "safe" but unless it is all recent they'll still probably recommend it is upgraded.

The gas safe register is here: https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/

enter 'Cardiff' in your search field and a list of registered gas safe people will come up. Look for ones with the 'domestic' classification.

Alternatively go on local facebook groups and ask for recommendations.
