Barclaycard PPI

This is my first claim and I need some help please.
The PPi starts in 2004, not sure about you but my memory is shocking! I don't remember how I applied for my card or what information I received but had I known I had taken out PPI I probably would have made a claim on it as I had no other sickness cover.
Barclaycard are saying they need more info from me; my employment status from Nov 2003 til I opened my Barclaycard account in Nov 2004, simple fully employed.
They are also asking about any sick pay scheme - this would have been statutory sick pay.
They are also asking for further info on how I would have made repayments if I was unable to work through sickness, accident or unemployment. I don't really know how to answer this - any advice? I suppose I would have had to pay out of a bit of savings (less than £1k) but not sure if this is the best way to answer?

The best way to answer is truthfully. And from what you have said you were not mis-sold PPI.0

There are no best answers. Just be honest.
If you don't remember, say so.0 -

If you had it, you signed your consent. Not reading (or remembering ) what you signed is not mis-selling.
The reasons it appears to be NOT mis-sold is that you had no alternative cover or significant savings..0 -

You have to agree to have PPI, either ticking a box on the form or agreeing to it in a phone call when activating the card. It would appear on every statement where you were charged, so not knowing is a weak reason as it implies you sign stuff without reading it and/or don't read statementsSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I disagree with the other posters here. If you had no idea that you had PPI cover then by definition you would not have been able to benefit from it had your circumstances changed and you had needed to.
While I would agree in principle that being purposely offered and purposely accepting to take out PPI is likely to mean that it wasn't mis sold, it absolutely is possible that the cover was added without your consent.
I say that because this happened to me with a Barclaycard. They had added 'payment cover' AND PPI (separate products) to my account at various points over the years. I'd noticed one at the time and went to town on them for adding it without my consent. They took it off right away (didn't refund me though), however some months later, they added it back on. This all happened around early 2000's and only recently got a refund from them.
If it weren't for this blatant type of mis selling being widespread - the whole PPI scandal wouldn't have happened so it's absolutely not as simple as saying 'if you ticked the box you knew what you were buying'.0
