Reclaiming PPI without any details

Options
Hi
I've sent letters and emails to all the banks I can remember using over the years.
I unfortunately do not have any paperwork to back up any claims with account numbers and dates etc
I am sure that I used to have a Barclays mortgage and a Barclaycard but within days of my initial enquiries I got identical letters saying they could not trace me under my name or date of birth or addresses I provided.

Is there anything else I should do or do I just have to accept their answer. they just seemed too quick to respond for my liking!

If neither you nor they have any records, there's nothing else you can do.

Try to research a bit, look back on old purchases etc, old tax/dwp records/wage slips etc anything that deals with money, You might find account numbers somewhere.

I've just had that letter from Barclays & I had an account, barclaycard & car loan with them but sometime ago.

I also think that was too quick however I rang them & they advised that non banking records are not kept after about 6 years. It's not helped that my branch was shut down some years ago so it all probably went to the shredder.

They advised that if I can find anything with an account number on then send it to:

    Barclays PPI Complaints
    Leicester
    LE87 2BB

    by recorded delivery.

Covering letter with as much info as possible regarding products held/addresses etc.

Guess that's me in the attic then....:(

A few keystrokes on a computer will be all it takes to ascertain whether there are any records based on the information you gave, so why do you think it was "too quick"?

By all means search your own archives, but you are looking not just for an account number but most importantly evidence of PPI. You can't make a PPI complaint with just an account number.

Do you even know for certain that you had any PPI?
