Ok I have a Kobo and am very happy with it but some books are only available on Kindle. Should I buy a cheap kindle or what do you suggest?
Plus if I buy an older one on Ebay, which models have a back lit screen?

download the Calibre free software. it converts e-books into whatever format you require. no need to buy another e-reader.
plenty of online tutorials. it's not that difficult. it's years since i used it, but remember it working very well.0 -
Thanks, I did this but the books are then difficult get onto the Kobo page as they are either much too big or small. Plus the page size is fixed difficult to explain but every time you turn a page you then have to size the new page to fit the screen which is a real hastle.0

It gives different resolutions as well as different makes of ereader.
As a Kobo user myself who's converted dozens I can say that not once have I had a format problem with books from Kindle format to Kobo.0 -
Thanks, but I always have trouble doing simple things like that!
So I have bought the book and can see it in my books on my Macbook, but I can only read it via the cloud reader so no good when I am off line.
I have put in a usb but when I click on download to usb it says no suitable devices!
Why is it so hard, I have bought the book but cannot get it!0 -
I think you have to install Kindle for Mac on your Macbook, set it up with your Amazon account and once your book appears in it, click to download. Then you just need to find the 'My Kindle Content' folder on your Macbook, and the book should be there. Next run Calibre and add books from that folder (DRM will be removed if you've installed the DeDRM Plugins), once imported you can convert them to epubs (or kepubs) to read on your Kobo.0

Well I spent over two hours on chat with Amazon, downloaded the app and removed it 3 times and still can only read the book on my Macbook!
It is not possible to download the book so cannot use Calibre on it.
Why is it so difficult whenever I try to do something that should be simple?0
