Euro Bank Account

Hi All

I am about to start a new job; salary is paid in pounds to my UK account but allowances/expenses are paid in Euros. I have been advised the best way to manage this is to open a separate Euro account possibly offshore so I can get to the money cheaply when working around Europe.

Just wondering if anyone has experience of this and can offer advice. Ideally I need to:

1. Access cash cheaply when away.
2. Transfer money into UK account.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Most (if not all?) high street banks and building societies offer offshore euro accounts.

1.Suggest you ask whoever you bank with.
2.Suggest you avoid transfers, run separate current and savings accounts and spend your euros whilst working and on holidays overseas.
There are many ways to spend "excess" currency. For example, you can buy airline train and ferry tickets in either currency.
