    Tarambor.

How does the PSV apply to us based on my most recent more detailed comments. We don't own any vehicles we just rent them from a hire company for the period we need them. I.e pick up at 8am and give it back at 18:30 that day etc.

You talked about minimum funding, maintenance etc.

    Hi

I think there is confusion about the type of O licence you need, in your case you need a Restricted PSV licence

Basically If you only use one or two vehicles that have 16 or less seats to transport customers as part of the services you offer, then you can obtain a Restricted PSV (Passenger Service Vehicle) licence
for your vehicles, which can be obtained from VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency). To obtain a licence you need to download form PSV 421 from https://www.vosa.gov.uk Application for a PSV Licence.

You will need to show that you have enough money to carry on
your business (generally 3 months bank statements, your accounts etc) and that you are of good repute with no convictions.

The fee is £209 and it takes around 7 weeks, a case worker will contact you and ask you whatever questions, such as in your case, you do not own any vehicles and rely upon hire companies, the checks of them to make sure they are reputable etc.

You do not need a transport manager or anyone with a CPC, this is for normal "O" licences, you just need a restricted licence as the vehicle and the transporting of customers to a given point, is part of your business, and not the main part, also you do not charge a set fee for just the transporting and the customers cannot dictate where and when they need taking anywhere, and you do not charge separate fares etc, the main part of your business is the activities etc, the getting them there is a small part of the business.

If my settings allow, I will send you the phone number of a Traffic Commissioners who deal with enquiries regarding restricted licences, take advice from them, they are the experts :)

Thank you so much for the telephone number I have spoken to the Traffic Commissioners who advise that for my needs a restricted PSV will be needed.

I have also spoken to a training company who have advised and quoted what I need from a personal perspective in terms or medical, theory, practical tests, CPC modules and then the requirement for a further 35hours CPC over the next 5 years.

Didn't think it would be so complicated but now I have a basic understanding I think I can navigate the system....fingers crossed!!
