    1. he didn’t pay it forever he stopped when he met me and I told him he didn’t need it!
    2. It may be the biggest excuse going for ppi claiming but it’s the truth. He was completely naive. First time buyer not a clue. Scared he wouldn’t get the mortgage. Would have done anything.
    3. A lot of people dug themselves in holes years and ago and would have done anything to get the credit. That’s why they took the ppi a lot of the time.
    4. We didn’t claim 20 years ago because he didn’t know he could or that why would he even know?! We did claim about 8 years successfully for others but only as we had all the paperwork. Otherwise we didn’t think we could prove it.
    5. Obviously this ppi money people are complaining about is your money as you all seem to be very precious about people claiming it. Bank made a lot of money from vulnerable not savvy people. Not just ppi. So if it’s genuinely missold let them claim it back.
    6. This ppi scandal can only be a good think loving forward. Responsible lending. I for one am delighted. Sorry the fat cats are feeling the pinch!

Certain irony point 6 would have stopped point 3 happening ;)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
