Automatic vans are very few and far between and i would be highly suprised if you could find one available from a rental firm.

Have you considered hiring a man with a van?
  • Hi BlueHaddock

Thanks for the reply - I feared as much.

I had thought about a man and a van but there is quite a travelling distance involved so I think it would work out to be much more expensive that way - but if I don't have an alternative then I may need to go that route.

    Thanks anyway.

    Regards

The only manufacturers i can think of who make auto vans are Mercedes and VW and its a pretty damn expensive option that makes the van built to order so not really attractive to the rental market.

Only other thing i could think of is phoning a few van dealers and seeing if they have any available to rent? i know VW do van rental but whether they have an auto available is something you would need to investigate.

Definitely a needle in a haystack but try the airport locations and large independent companies as they may have been given an auto as part of their job lot purchases. Citroen/Peugeot/Fiat never made an auto van and the newer Ducato type van will have an auto released soon. Your only hope are places that stock Ford Transit Durashifts and VW/Merc Sprinters.
    The man without a signature.
  • Or you could hire a people carrier? Galaxy etx... Take the seats out while you;re using it - van with windows and a good chance of getting an auto too!
