Credit score dropped by 140 POINTS

Hi all, I'm new to this forum. I have a question about my credit score.

I check my score every month using MSE's credit club. It was only going up until last month, when it has dropped from 960 to 821 at a time. I bank with HSBC only, I don't have mortgages/any other loans and I don't have a phone contract. Noddle has no change and in fact, my score has gone up in clearscore.
I went to HSBC branch and asked about it but they said everything's perfect on their end. So I reached out to Experian. They said they can't talk about the score I see on MSE but they have also told me that my credit card payment has not been updated from 31st March. I emailed HSBC and am waiting for a response. My lifestyle and/or financial condition hasn't changed a bit in the past few days. I'm really lost about what could have happened. I'd really appreciate any pointers on this and how I should get it sorted.

Thank you

Don't worry about the scores. None of them are grounded in any acceptable form of reality and no one will ever see them but you.

If you're managing your credit properly, there's nothing to worry about.
  • As above, your score means zilch so I wouldn't worry. Do you have any credit cards? It could be that you have no credit accounts and therefore have not demonstrated you can handle credit.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Feeling a little better now.

I do have a credit card and use about 10% of my limit every month and payoff with direct debit.

I have debts / outstanding finance etc, my accounts are run properly and whatnot. My numbers always place me in the good-excellent range.

Not saying that you should panick or anything like that, but I'd be kinda curious about whats happened if i was to log on and randomly see the 'number' has dropped by 150 - although, personally id recommend checking it on Experien / Equifax

I wouldn't worry about a random number randomly dropping.

The temperature has risen recently - maybe the thermometers needed to borrow some numbers to make this higher temperatures display?

    Who knows?

Did you have a credit card, loan or a bank account closed and settled in the past? If it was long time ago, it might have dropped off the report, experian would lower their score because of this.
