Moving Costs

Hi all,
We have a one bed flat and I am just about to start checking moving costs. I am happy to box everything up but the physical moving...I have done it far too many times before so trying to persuade hubby to pay for someone to do it all. How much are people paying? Specifically interested in you are in Leeds. Moving 4miles away ( about 20mins). Thank you

If you ring a few local (preferably recommended ones - FB always a good starting point), they will give you an estimate. It really depends on how much stuff you've got to move.
Things like white goods, piano(!), wardrobes, clothes, drawers, books, etc will make a lot of difference.
I have always paid the extra for them to pack the day before the move. Worth every penny. If you have a sparse one bed with no white goods and a tiny 'capsule wardrobe' without a book to your name, then I take it back. I'm the opposite.2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
Um, get a quote from a local removal firm?
Then you can ask "I was quoted N pounds to move X amount of stuff Y distance with Z additional features (e.g. packing etc.)", and people can go "sounds fair" or "that's daylight robbery".0 -
when faced with these types of questions, the best way to look at it is by looking at how much work is involved - is it 2 people all day plus a van or is it 4 people all day and two vans - or more?
then price their time realistically and their margin and their cost. For a flat that 2 people could do you with for a day i'd think £500 to £700 would be reasonable.0 -
Thank you all for your responses. I will be going to get some quotes.0
