new problem with netflix and sky on samsung smart tv

Hi everyone,

I've had my samsung smart tv since January last year, we've always had sky connected to it, and have always used the netflix app on it too, without any problems.

Today, my netflix app froze. I googled and got the apparently very common issue with samsung smart tvs and netflix, solution is to switch off the tv at the plug for over 30 seconds. This does fix the netflix issue on my tv - however, once my sky has booted up again after being switched off, and I hit the sky button on my sky remote, this makes the netflix app freeze again (this wasn't happening until today). Even putting the sky box into standby mode again (with the button on the sky remote) doesn't unfreeze the netflix app.

Any ideas?

Is the issue with the Netflix app on the TV or on the Sky box?

Maybe try turning off Arc HDMI control if you're using it via the TV menu.

'Arc HDMI control' - good idea. This comes under umpteen different names that each maufacturer gives it. Bravia Link (?) for Sony, Viera Link for Panasonic.

Good point re. the differing names for it, I had to disable Bravia Sync on my Sony Android TV as it was causing the TV to randomly turn on.

It isn't Arc HDMI control, it is HDMI CEC.

A quick Google suggests that HDMI CEC in the Samsung world may be called Anynet+

Have you tried changing the HDMI cable? (It might have become faulty).
