Jet2Holidays Hotel Disruption

Hi!
I’ve just received an email from Jet2 about my upcoming holiday in two weeks time. Apparently there is to be some work carried out on a disused building. It is being renovated into a restaurant. I have contacted Jet2 and spoke to a call handler who is assuring me that this work is minimal, is closed off from the beachfront and there should be no noise. Apparently it is classed as ‘grade 1 disruption’.
I am concerned incase I get there and it turns out to be a nightmare! From what I have read, ABTA have said that they should be offering me a full refund or the option to change. I enquires about this and I was told no. If I want to change hotel I would need to pay the £150 admin fee.
Does this seem right? I’m worried they are playing down this work. Tour operators only need to tell us if it is work that could spoil the holiday according to ABTA. I don’t know if they are telling me out of kindness or they are covering something up.
What do people think?
Caroline

Have you looked on TripAdvisor to see if there are any up to date reviews mentioning the building work?

None of the very recent reviews on TripAdvisor mention any problems with building work.

Its a blooming big place [looking at it on google earth] so a good chance of it not affecting you. If it does. Then complain in resort to the reps. Or as happened to us in Lara Beach. Room was upgraded away from the building works at hotel next door.

As mentioned, TripAdvisor would tell you straight away if any work was ongoing around the hotel. Nothing on there at all.

Looks like a lovely place. Stop worrying and have a good time.

People get these emails and worry far too much, I had one before going to Malta the other year, in the end the only evidence we ever saw was a crane wandering around the sky as we sat on the 10th floor rooftop terrace. At no point did I get my compo face on or moan about it beforehand.
