Masonry paint on concrete patio?

I can’t seem to find an absolute answer to this but can I use masonry paint (eg Sandex or Dulux) on an [external] concrete patio?

I'm not sure how long any painting of an outdoor patio would last, but if I was to do it I wouldn't use masonry paint because it's not designed for the abuse of being walked on etc.

You can get special floor paints (Ronseal do one) that are made for painting garage floors but should work on a patio. Prep is absolute key. I would jet wash it, vacuum it, apply a primer/sealant, vacuum again and then apply the final top coat.

Those paints won't last either, they will still scuff and come off if you drag stuff along them. I painted the floor in my flat with the ronseal stuff. It stayed on in areas that weren't high traffic or being scracthed by moving furniture, or complstely flat areas.

Not surprised.

There are specialist epoxy resin paints that get used to paint floors in industrial units etc. Might do a better job.

Personally, I think the OP is letting himself into a future headache by painting the patio.
