So it seems that there’s an issue with Barclay card for several people.

I got my new card on Friday and I purchased things online with it: I then got a text an hour later saying not to use it

Sorry it didn’t complete the post.

However I have used it in costa and it worked fine. Will it cause any issues if it went through.

Perhaps they have discovered the card is comprised.

I’d call them to find out what’s wrong.

That’s the text but my card has been accepted in places

My first thought is that someone has gotten hold of your details and they sent you the text to make sure that Barclay's don't put a block on for using the card in more than one place.

But it could be right and you should phone them to find out and raise a complaint

There’s several people on Twitter have the same text. My card is brand new and wasn’t used outside my house since it came to the mail before I purchased things online

To me that sounds like there is a system problem internal to Barclaycard in respect of newly issued cards that they need to resolve. They are advising against the card's use for the time being to avoid the possibility of (false) declined payments.
