Buying from main dealer and want to swap car I chose
I wanted to know if anyone knew about used car sales. I put a deposit on a car at a main dealers on Friday. But I’ve changed my mind due to work circumstances and would like to swap it for a different one on their forecourt. Reading up I see there is no cooling off for wanting to back out. But what if you just want to change it for a different one? Help appreciated as I’m really stressing over it. Thank you.

So you contact the dealer when they are open, no reader here (unless they are the dealer) will be able to answer that.
It depends how far the order has progressed for a swap I'd guess (finance and stuff).0 -
Thank you. Just worrying. It’s still on the forecourt just with sold sign on. Finance is being done through different company and I get a cooling off with that so should be able to resubmit for different vehicle.0

Our main dealer had ordered in a used car for us from the mainland, day we were to pick it up, we changed our mind and took one from the forecourt, was no trouble to them at all. All they are interested in is a sale, be it car A or car B, a sale is a sale0

I know my young neighbour in the past had changed her mind over a car at a forecourt, the dealer was ok with that but as long as another was taken (her probs was there was not anther car she liked there) in the end the relative had opted for one of the other cars.0 -
I really hope it will be ok. Just panicking lots. I do love the car I chose but the new company I am going to work for are giving me a car allowance and I just feel I’ve chosen the wrong car for my new role. .0

I would think it would be best to contact the dealer and explain the situation to them, as someone pointed out, as long as they make a sale, it shouldn’t be a problem0

At the end of the day all they'll be interested in is making a sale so I'd doubt it'll cause an issue but be prepared to have to renegotiate the price on the other car.0

It can be different if it is a factory order with non standard options, but since you intend to buy a different car, I can't see them having an issue.0

Unless you'd decided on a 2 seater when a 4/5 seater would be more suitable or a gas guzzling "Chelsea Tractor" when your employer would expect you to have a Prius, why is your chosen car wrong? If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I feel it is too sporty looking and it’s making me feel so anxious0
