Hi guys, new to this forum.
My mother is severely disabled and gets her ESA benefit every other saturday like clockwork.
But today she has had NO payment without any warning? she lives on her own in surrey and was on the phone to me this morning in tears! obviously i have made the journey from essex to make sure she is going to be ok, but i am baffled as to why she has had no warning. i spoke to a friend who said she has had no child tax credit payment due today so im wondering if this is an issue nationwide?
thanks guys

Could be due to last Monday being a Bank Holiday.
Odd that her money goes in on the weekend rather than a weekday!0 -

Agreed, benefits are not usually paid at weekends or on bank holidays. Where a due date would fall on a weekend or bank holiday they are normally paid on the last working day prior to the due day.

Perhaps OP’s mother is paid on a Friday. Regardless of the due date the only way to check the cause of a missing payment is to ring DWP on Monday.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
Some people whose payment is actually due on Mondays receive payment on Saturdays directly into the bank. I have seen on other forums that this is now stopping, and payments are only being released on the Monday that it is due. Maybe that is what has happened here. I've never heard of any benefit payments officially being due on weekends.0

Never heard of that and not in accordance with public guidance but sounds plausible. (If so it would of course have been sensible to inform claimantsaffected by the change.)
OP, suggest you see if payment comes in on Monday, if not ring DWP.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -

Natwest used to be one of the banks where you would see Monday's payments, including DDs on a Saturday but they stopped this a long time ago. Now it's Monday, as normal.0 -
It could be something as simple as a system glitch, and that happens with monotonous regularity. If it doesn't appear on Monday call ESA.0

It may be a change made by the bank , not the DWP.0 -
I know some colleagues of mine that got salary due paid on a Monday, cleared on a Saturday. It was Ulster Bank (part of RBOS which also involves Nat West (someone mentioned them earlier in the thread)) in every case.0

NatWest certainly did used to do this until January last year as my child benefit due on a Monday would appear available on the Saturday. Barclays at one point also allowed money to be withdrawn on a Saturday at one point too. I think it’s something that the banks are phasing out though0
