iPod problem, HELP!

I have been given an iPod. To an old fart like me its quite complicated. How do I "eject" before disconnecting from my PC. Thanks in anticipation

  • You should have an icon in your system tray like the one below

    safely_remove_1.gif

Click on it and highlight your ipod
  • Assuming you are using i-Tunes for loading your songs when you plug your iPod to your computer iTunes will detect it. It should then load any songs on that may be needed etc, this is normally shown on the left of iTunes with a circle with arrows going around the inside. When uploading completed this circle will then change to a sort of up arrow shape. This is what you press to un-dock your iPod.

    Hope that makes sense.

Hope that is clear enough - just press that button then wait for the iPod to stop saying not to disconnect and unplug it.
  • Thank you for your help, unfortunately the arrow up symbol does not appear anywhere, the arrows going round in circles has gone. I think its back to the radiogram for me.

Most likely it means that it is not connected or ejected. It isn't essential that you have to eject before you disconnect but if you disconnect while it's still copying or processing data there is a tiny change it could corrupt it. Best to have it ejected before though, just in case.
  • Thanks for your help, it seems the installation needed upgrading or was corrupted, I'm getting the hang of it now.
