washing trainers

I always wash our trainers (inc dh/ds's fashion/Nike ones which are a real financial investment)

We use our usual detergent plus 10 or so drops of lemon essential oil on a 40 degree wash for trainers.
Until ds became a pre-teen with very sweaty/smelly feet I didn't add the lemon oil, but the 'smelly feet' smell used to remain.
DH walked through sea water in his once too and the fishy smell was totally removed in the wash. The lemon oil totally eliminates odours. :j 0 -
I've thrown trainers in the washing machine before, and never had any problems. I'd just recommend putting some towels or similar in as well, just to pad the machine out a bit. Else the trainers get thrown around a lot, and make quite a racket.Because it's fun to have money!
