O/S Daily Saturday 11th May 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Dark, dreich and dull clouds again, dry at the moment, but rain looks likely yet again.

DH and myself are enjoying first peaceful cuppas. DS1 still in his pit.

Dinner last night was steak and ale pie, chips and mushy peas for the menfolk, I had fishcakes and veg. Tonight will be hot quiche, scotch eggs, pork pie, cheese, side salad, HM coleslaw.

I'll be going into town first thing to visit the building society.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive again, ironing got done, managed to get the few remaining jobs done. We'll be visiting the parents later.

Keep safe and well x

Good morning, and thanks NMLC for starting off.

It's fine and sunny here, hope it's a bit warmer though. I wasn't out yesterday apart from putting out/taking in washing, and seeing friends off, but it seemed really cold.

Yesterday was a pottering kind of day, sorting out holiday clothes, and doing a bit of housework.

Two friends came round last night, and we had a lovely chatty evening.

I'll have to do some shopping today, and the garden could do with a tidy. There's always something, if it's not the garden it's the ironing.

Ds and family are coming for lunch tomorrow, so I'll do a roast, lamb I think. I know it's expensive but we all like it and it's not often I buy large joints of meat these days.

Thinking of the sad and poorly people, and those struggling with life.

    Take care folks xx

    Arghhhhhh

DS making bread. He's been making it overnight and now is obviously tired, ratty and I could go on. He's set off the smoke detectors, which are over sensitive, the sitting room is covered in flour, not so much the kitchen. I only hope the loaves are good, otherwise it will be extra, mega ratting and somehow it will be All My Fault.

Too early for me to want to get more packing done, did well yesterday. Lots of stuff for the cs.

Thinkng about the sad, worried or unwell.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

    Morning All

It's a beautiful morning here, the sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky, although there has been a frost. The WM is doing overtime, bedding in and a load already on the line.

Work yesterday was mega busy but I've strangely enjoyed the 2 weeks on my own. When I came home I picked some rhubarb from my friends garden and made rhubarb and ginger jam, very productive!

Yoga this morning then I hope to meet up with the lovely Gers for a coffee. Must get to the allotment this afternoon to get some of my plants out.

RR - my DD is now 24 weeks.

Hope you all have a good weekend, take care. XX

    Good morning :)

Sorry for my extended awol you really wouldn't have wanted to hear from me trust me. My neuropathy is getting much worse now and last weekend I went flying in the kitchen and have bruises galore to prove it. Its not going to to get any better so also massively affects how i feel about life and right now its not great. Anyway thats my reason for staying away ...I was keeping up though

So the coming week I have a friend coming to stay from America so I have a packed plan of touristy type stuff planned ...London of course, and an overnight in Blackpool for the rock and seaside experience :D I am slightly concerned about doing all of this at the moment but have decided to stop moping and get on with it. I will report on progress as the week goes on.

Today is last minute cleaning for me and my usual chat with my age uk lady. looks like the weather is on the up and up too which will be good so we can sit out in my favourite room of the house hopefully and maybe even venture a bbq

Food tonight is a hm steak and kidney pie from freezer 2. Finally got freezer one down to those bags of random veg and the odd stray lemon so moved on to the garage frrezer. No idea what surprises await in there and I genuinely have no memory of making steak and kidney pies but there they are. Its going to be fun  Ill serve with some of the random veg and gravy

Right off to sainsburys to pick up a few bits that the asda delivery guys decided I didnt really need yesterday ....mmmm cheers boys and girls

Have a great weekend all and keep smiling

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Oh AOD I feel for you, there's nowt worse than getting up to a mess. I hope the bread is good to compensate.

The sun is shining here and it feels less cold. But rain is expected this afternoon. Where's it all coming from.

I am dithering (I'm good at that). I can't decide whether to get the bus to Ilkley again as I am wishing I had got a couple more of the bottle lights, like the one I got the other day. It looks lovely twinkling away in the kitchen window when it's dark so I want one for the other side and maybe one would look nice in the landing window too. I am worried they may sell out!

Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, sad, worried or lonely. Also those MIA for whatever reason. SILVER-OLDIE how are you? Take care all xx

Good Morning chums and its dry here but possibility of a shower ot two later today I am just about to get my holiday washing on the line asap. I had a great break and did so much in the few days I was away ,including walking a fair but (which is good for my aged bones ).Somerset is such a very pretty county, and Bath was beautiful.I would heartily recommend it to anyone who wants lots of gorgeous buildings ,plenty of greenery, and some spectacular views .I stopped at a farm shop my friend and I had used and brought some nice stuff home with me so I only have veg to buy and salad stuff today.I will whizz up to the supermarket after the washing is on the line.I am in a very energetic mode today (must be all the super fresh air I had on holiday ) and fingers crossed the bathroom will get a good bottoming out along with the conservatory this weekend. My lovely DGS Danny and his wife fly back to the USA on Monday so I am hoping to see him as well before he goes .DGD Holly and her fiance have put an offer in on a house ,so fingers crossed for them as well.

Will see the boys tomorrow when I go for sunday dinner as usual and will be greeted with 'Hello Gran, what did you bring back ? :) I usually bring them a little something home I went to Lacock village and Abbey on Thursday and it was so pretty. There is a lovely chocolate shop in the village so it was a must to visit :) (be rude not to :)

I had such a great time and the lodge that I stayed in was amazing ,set in lovely surroundings and I would give it 10/10 well equipped and the bed was so comfy I only wish I could have brought it home :)

Well enough of my blethering ,hope everyone is well, and now life gets back to relative normality until my next holiday in August with DD and family on our beloved IoW.

Nice to be away ,but also nice to be home again

have a good weekend chums what ever you are doing

    Cheers JackieO xx

I'm up early for once, that's because I got to sleep by midnight. I seem to be sleeping about 6 to 7 hours a night but don't usually get to sleep until around 2 so I get up late. I don't nap during the day because that is fatal for me.

Talking of which Steve was sick yesterday and slept nearly all day, I hope he's better today. Laura and Brian are coming up to drop Ziggy off while they go and collect their new (to them) car. They should have come up last night but Brian had forgotten he'd offered a bed to a friend from Glasgow. Poor Laura will be very tired today because they've got a fair way to travel. She's been getting a lot of headaches with the pregnancy poor thing.

I need to go shopping, Waitrose sent me some vouchers for £8 off a £40 shop so I shall go there to stock up on things and there is a new Lidl right next door so I will also pop in there for F & V.

    Good morning everyone :hello:
It's looking to be a lovely bright and sunny day here today. Steve is making me a blt sandwich and Phoebe has just left for work. Lilly will be getting up in a minute as she has the hairdressers this morning and Lee is also fast asleep although the scent of bacon usually drags him downstairs :).

I have a new computer and it's been a pain in the bum trying to remember passwords for everything. I almost got chucked off this site as I couldn't remember which email I had used to sign up over a decade ago. Never mind it is all sorted now and I have been dragged kicking and screaming into this century :rotfl:.

My eldest daughter is in Greece at the moment having a lovely holiday and my grandchildren are in Cyprus with their Dad. It is my grandson's 8th birthday today and it seems weird not to have him here. I am sure he is having a fantastic time on holiday though and he will be home soon enough.

Don't know what is for tea tonight, we still have loads of food in the freezers so I will leave it up to Steve to decide.

Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx

    Morning all.

It's very bright here though there were heavy rainstorms overnight.

I've been up and at them already, got myself into town, bought two new pillows and (by accident :o) new shoes! I also bought a TV recorder although, on reflection, I'll take it back tomorrow.

One pillow is for DM's bed as she has one inadequate one which she won't relinquish so usually asks for one from my bed. The othe is for me as a replacement for one which folds over my arm.

Now I'm having a bit of breakfast before heading off to meet Camelot for a coffee and chat.

Snoozer - I hope that Steve feels better soon.

    AOD - what a mess!

SO - hope all that is going OK for you and that you some support.

    Happy Saturday to all.
