I'm very pleased with avg but I want to find another anti virus which is as good but faster--avg takes so lonnnnggg to check the system and slows my pc down too much---any suggestions?;)

I'm not sure if it slows PC down like AVG but I use Avast, it gets good reviews and it's free for personal use - www.avast.com0

You need a faster cpu. I'm amazed at the difference between my new e2180 and a year old pent 3.2ghz.
Failing that try a "lighter" prog if you can and remember that there are settings in avg to use a less processor heavy scan (slower) or a faster scan.0 -
I vaguely remember someone commenting on AntiVir (http://www.free-av.com/) and saying that it was pretty fast - I'm not sure how it compares to AVG, though. It gets excellent reviews, so might be worth a look...0

Avast is worth a look also (and free)

Have you got it configured to scan at boot up? This is not necessary and can easily be changed so that you scan when you want to.

NOD32 or Kaspersky, Norton 2008 is also quite light too in my opinion.0
