Best value car battery for old Fiesta?
have an old Fiesta which will probably only last another couple of years tho it has just passed MOT 1st time with no issues. Been away for 2 weeks and came home to flat battery. Breakdown ppl said battery tested 103 CCA and needed replacing asap. Not sure what figure it should be despite googling but assume 103 is bad.

I think I'd rather have it fitted too as I'm v clumsy, but I also wondered as I don;t use it v often should I get one with a high CCA?0

Just get the one that is supposed to go in the car. They aren't hard to fit, just remember to take the negative lead off first and put it back on last. That way if your metal spanner accidentally touches the body when you take off the positive terminal you'll not get any sparks. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. On most cars like the fiesta it's really easy to replace the battery.
It's only really small compact cars where everything has been squeezed that it might be difficult.
I bought a Lion battery from ECP. It's lasted years with no complaints

Find what size your battery is - they're coded with a number, which tells you the physical dimensions and the layout and type of the terminals. 063 is a very common one, for instance.
This is all the information you need to know. Then just google for prices, same as if you were internet comparison shopping anything.
103CCA - cold cranking amps - is how much power your battery is currently able to deliver. That's way down on what it should be delivering, and probably inadequate to turn your starter motor quickly enough. A healthy battery will deliver plenty of power, you don't need an uprated one.0 -
Thanks for all responses. Best deal for me seems to be for Platinum Prestige with National. Inc fitting and 3 yr guarantee and disposal of old battery and 10% discount code it's £58.65. Never heard of Platinum brand but it's guarantee will cover my time with the car.0

Some smart marketing there, at a quick look one could be forgiven for thinking Li-ion, when indeed Lion is the brand name0 -

Old batteries are worth around £5 at the moment for the lead content.
Not that you care as you want rid of it, but that is where most of your 10% discount comes from.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Make sure they don't coerce you into more work whilst you're there. Just smile blankly and tell them you will go away and think about it if they do.0
