Kitchen lino tears

Hi all

We have moved into a property with new Lino fitted in the kitchen. It's pretty cheap I think but it is new. It's been laid in the space for the dishwasher and our dishwasher was delivered a couple of weeks ago and put into the space under the worktop by the delivery guys. I signed the paperwork and they were off.

We've just pulled the dishwasher out to fit the pipes and the whole Lino was ripped when pushing in the machine.

Is it absolutely guaranteed that this is our fault? The whole kitchen Lino will need replacing when we leave presumably.

Do you mean it's hidden by the dishwasher (ie underneath it)?

Yes it's underneath the dishwasher. When the delivery people pushed in the dishwasher they took the Lino with it, which has ceased up into a lovely 'fan' effect. The whole kitchen is one piece of Lino. Sorry it's a rental property.

I'm assuming this is a rental property. I think you will have to accept that it is your fault, I've had something similar happen so I now put appliances on castor cups such as those shown below to make it easier to slide in and out without causing damage. Whether the whole lino needs to be replaced is debateable, we'd need to see the damage to be sure.

Take photos, send to the delivery/installing company along with quotes to replace the lino, and claim the damage.

These guys install white goods all day everyday and should be familiar with how to do so without causing damage.
  • Thanks GM - we've just got some coasters which makes it so much easier. I've got nothing to lose by trying.

So the rips are v shaped with the v being nearest you?
If they're not, you'll have a hard time proving it was them putting it in and not you taking it out.
