Enfranchisement

Ok, this is going to be my last post before I decide to pull out of a leasehold house I am buying. My solicitor has advised that the lease is not good and I should be very cautious about proceeding as ground rent increases in 2021 push it over the £250 threshold for AST. My only option seems to be to ask the seller to buy the freehold via enfranchisement. If they agree to do this can they then pass this on to us when they receive it? Does anybody know how long this process takes? I feel that if they do not do it for us they will end up going through this all again with the next potential buyers and will never sell the house. They are pressuring us to complete in 6 weeks and have been very vague about the lease previously, they would not share it with us and the solicitor had to buy it from the land registry. Please help. Thank you.

    That should have been the point to pull out. Assuming you do pull out from the sale, what they do about purchasing the freehold will no longer be your problem - Let someone else worry about it.
