It would be ironic if the cat 'runs away' between now and next weekend ;)

My neighbour is so desperate for the cat to remain with us she offered her son money and her frail husband apparently is so distraught he is not eating!

I asked my neighbour if she'd write up a statement of the truth of all that has happened and then the dispute would solely be between us and her son but she said that already her son is threatening that he'll stop them from seeing their grand kids if they carry on how they are.

What a horrible man their son is.

The ownership of a cat is more important that the health of his father and his children's relationship with their grandparents. :(

My husband has just called, our neighbour called him to say that apparently her daughter-in-law was completely unaware of her husbands plans to bring the cat back, as far as she was concerned the cat had been given to our neighbours never to return so when he confessed all that had been going on she was furious! Even more so when he mentioned that his parents had offered money (inheritance advance) , because he should have accepted the offer! :money: So, our neighbour is going to 'deal' with her daughter in law and obtain all the micro-chip details, (hopefully before any money is handed over, I trust no-one), and then we'll register kitty in our name.:j

Don't know, but would a very strong magnet (Neodymium) erase info on microchip? Will erase just about any other memory format.

I think the owner info is held on a computer database, not on the chip.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

But the actual chip number is data that is stored on the chip, chips stop working all the time so this may work.

The easiest way to change the registration is for the original owner to complete the appropriate section on the registration document. that is sent off the the chip company who will update the records and send you new registration documents.

However, your vet can give you the chip details. You can then contact the chip company to change the registration into your name.

The chip company will contact the registered owner advising them of the application to change the chip details. The registered owner will have 28 days to object. If they not reply the registration will be updated with your information.
