Spark energy and opos issues
Good evening.
Hopfully somebody will be able to shed some light on this and help us out. We moved into a rented house in July 2018 and spark was already set up as the supplier so we continued. We paid a set direct debit every month. We moved out of the property April 2019 and received a refund from spark for over paying. We had only ever been contacted by spark by letter. Since moving and the refund we have been receiving calls and emails saying we owe a large sum of money. We initially saw this as a scam and thought nothing of it. We are now being contacted by opos limited trying to collect the debt. The account number on our letters and the account number on the emails don't match but the name and address does. When we have got through to spark they have been less than helpful and haven't explained how we can owe any money and have been quite forceful in trying to receive it. If we had left our previous property without a refund I could maybe understand owing something. But to be refunded and to then be asked for hundreds of pounds weeks later without a explanation is beyond me. Any help appreciated.

Check your bills and marry up the readings and costs against what you owed, paid and had refunded.0

You have 2 account numbers - one on the letters nand another in the emails.
Do either of these match the account number which you had when you were on supply with Spark, and have you queried why you are being sent someone else's bill if neither of them match yours?0 -
I'm afraid this is typical Spark.
Phone calls & Emails demanding money are valueless, unless the Emails show a proper bill - Meter read Start and End numbers and dates, price detail and account status
If you have not kept the previous bills, you have the right to demand that Spark supply you with historical copies.
Best bet is to write to Spark, heading the letter Complaint
Demanding that they issue an official bill for the sum they are harassing you for, copies of every bill they issued for this account, and that they advise you of your Official Complaint Number within 10 days0 -
Hi Tw1991
I'm sorry to hear about this.
I suspect that OPOS are contacting you on behalf of KPMG, the administrators of Spark Energy Supply Ltd - in administration, as there may be a balance due to them. This would also account for why you had two seperate account numbers. When OVO Energy were appointed supplier of Spark Energy Supply Ltd - in administration's customers, they were able to retain the Spark Energy brand and operations. This meant we had to set up a new account for any existing Spark Energy customers.
I'm able to provide assistance on this, so please feel free to contact me using the details given in my profile.
Kind regards
Jenny
