Wear and tear items

Quick bit of advice please.

Arnold Clark autocare package claims that you can cover yourself against unexpected mechanical and electrical problems. This, on their website stated it includes clutch and gearbox repairs, however, in their policy documents it states they don't cover wear and tear items.

Can anyone speak from experience as to whether clutch or gearbox going on a used car will be covered by this? worried that they'd just claim it was wear and tear.

Gearbox would likely be covered but I doubt very much the clutch is unless its a particularly high priced package.

The most common clutch problem is wear of the friction surfaces, which are designed to wear. Other clutch problems should be covered.

A Mazda warranty was explained to me with a rule of thumb of "if it breaks, it's covered, if it wears out, it's not".
