Communal fire doors

Options
Hi,
I'm a leaseholder at a flat that is currently undergoing expensive fire safety works.

I was wondering if there has been any investigations into the price of fire doors and installation in the context of a housing association, as I cannot believe the prices that companies are charging to get a simple fire door installed.

In my instance, we had a storage cupboard in the hallway replaced with FD30s -
1) half a day (at most) for one person to install -
2) a simple 60cm x 190cm door set, with a simple lock, some hinges.

The cost excl management fees, consultancy fees, site manager etc, came to about £1,600 including VAT and this is supposedly a good price!

In the housing associations defence, I looked at getting other estimates and was told £1,825 excl VAT - this must be a case of price gouging.

Thanks,
Bryon

The housing association should be competent to negotiate a fair price for works they order.

If they aren't, then the housing association management or board are at fault.

This thread at Screwfix forum suggests around £200 or a bit more per door, labour only.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
