Police vetting and debt

Hi guys
Hope someone can help I’m just in the process of joining Warwickshire police force as chief Constable. Have passed interview and ac and now am on to vetting. I’m worried that my financial situation is going to see me rejected for vetting. I have around £19000 in credit card/loan debt, cc debt is 0% balances transfer but to paying for lots of stuff for wedding and partner being out of work a while back with my ex before wedding was called off. I’m managing the debt fine it will take me a long time to pay off but I’m managing it. Other than a missed payment from a few months back which was settled I’ve kept up with everything. I’ve got no defaults, ccjs, Iva(or whatever it’s called). Do people think I’ll pass the vetting. It would be gutting to miss out because of this but I’m hoping it will be ok

Good to have goals!
I think it's very unlikely it'll be a problem if there are no defaults, bankruptcies, CCJs, IVAs, fraud markers etc etc. Everyone seems to be up to their eyeballs in debt these days. The problem is if you've got fraud markers, or you're in unmanagable debt and would be open to bribery, blackmail, that sort of thing as a result. If it's just debt I wouldn't worry too much, unless anyone here has any in depth knowledge of police policies on this sort of thing.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Thought the OP must be Jed Mercurio exploring plot lines for Line of Duty!
If Ryan can join as a recruit then anyone can (at least Central Constabulary)!0 -
Debt is ok, but not great. the reason is obviously you could be open to bribery.
Unfortunately you will either pass or fail; there's no advice that would help0 -
