Mine got declined while in Copenhagen recently in a bar. Paid contactless and it declined. Tried chip n pin and that got declined. Rang the bank and they said there is no block on the account, and in fact there wasnt even a a record of the declined transaction on their system. So no idea what was going on
Which bank? Did your alternative card work normally for that payment?

Halifax Clarity card. I had a debit card which i used (again with Halifax) and that went through. I then went for another beer and tried the credit card again with contactless and it worked.

So no idea why it was declined the 1st time

Transient fault locally at the retailer end, e.g. their network link may have been down temporarily, so the authorisation couldn't go through.

That I suppose is one of vantage of app based credit cards such as tandem in that if there is ever a query they can communicate with you via the app
