O/S Daily Thursday 9th May 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

    Morning All

Great news for you too dp1, such a miracle.

The weather isn't too clever this morning again, hope it cheers up so I can go to the allotment for an hour after work.

Not much happening here, I didn't have a great sleep last night, hope I can stay awake later as I'm on a course for something completely new this afternoon so need to be on the ball.

Called to see DD on my way home yesterday, her baby bump is coming along nicely!

Hope you all have a good Thursday, take care. XX

Good morning, it is good as not actually raining! ETA Since writing this post, the rain has begun again.

Poppy and dp1 - lovely news from both of you!

As it was so wet yesterday, we just went for coffee and cake, undeserved cake really because we normally earn it by walking.

Telephone interview lasted an hour and a half - it was like a conference call and I had not realised that the two interviewers were sky ping each other at the same time and they made a decision via that. So I should be getting work from 2 organisations and it is uplifting to be 'wanted'.

I did no packing yesterday, am struggling to find space for the packed boxes now. But I'll crack on today.

Sending love to those who would like it J xx

    Morning everyone

SO - thanks for starting us off x

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x

DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered and dressed, enjoying my first cuppa and had my porridge. DS2 settled and ok.

Damp, dreich, and still quite cool. Rain forecast for the day again, although it doesn't appear to have started ..... yet! Judging by how dull it is it won't be long before the heavens open.

Dinner last night was mixed herbs chicken (something I've not cooked before - it was a packet mix with a roasting bag that you make up and then roast in the oven) - very nice it was too - went down well with the menfolk, we had HM egg and veg fried rice and veg with noodles and an oyster sauce. Not sure what we'll be having tonight - need to sort that.

Yesterday work was quiet to begin with, then became quite busy and I had to deal with a difficult customer, who became abusive and rude - to the point where we had to ask him to leave and then report it as a abusive and threatening incident. Just so sad as once this sort of process starts agencies can refuse to assist on the grounds of behaviour so they end up with no help.

On to today - I'll be heading into town to visit the bank and building society, then need to crack on with washing, drying, ironing and then housework.

    Keep safe and well x

    nmlc x

    ETA now raining steadily!

Good morning, it's a terrible morning weatherwise, as was yesterday.
I think most of us have had it though.

Poppy, so pleased to hear your good news, and you DP1, that little girl is doing so well.

I made myself usefu round the house yesterday, and DH vacuumed, also prepared a couple of
    dishes for the freezer.

I don't know what delights today will hold, certainly a bit of ironing whoo hoo !!

We'll be going away at the end of next week for a couple of weeks, to a family wedding down south - we are taking the caravan so will be making a bit of a holiday out of it. I've started to organise stuff towards that.

Pity you lost your post TA, I sometimes wonder if somewhere in the ether all our lost posts are in a kind of cloud.

Silver-Oldie, thinking of you, also Ger's Mum, Snoozer's Steve, and Mr Gintot. and Holly.

    Take care folks xx

    Good morning everyone.

More good news to add to the pot of poppy and dp1 (congrats to both) - my DM may come home a week today! :j Last night I took in more fish and chips, she ate all the fish and a lot of the chips. Other patients had already refused the hospital food as it was either horrible or cold or both.

My day today will be more productive as I'm teaching my one student this afternoon. He should finish off his work for me today so that'll be me finished work there after four years with the university. I'm not sure if I become retired or unemployed until mt SP starts in early July. I may claim carers allowance for the interim, it needs looking into a bit more.

Anyway, my thoughts are with this struggling with life and stuff. Happy Thursday to all.

Morning all! Seems I was a bit optimistic about the effects on skin of radiotherapy. It's not good but it's not too bad at the moment. It's just getting darker and darker and adding in some cooked muscle, or that's what it feels like.
Rain stopped a lot of play yesterday, moved half the compost to site the new bin, rain stopped play. Received some plants, had to move them because they blew over, got soaked, rain stopped play again...
Put the auto opener in the greenhouse window, very fiddly, glad I don't have to do that again, hoping I put it on right.

Did start prising off the wooden beading but it's very wide [ about 2"] so had to figure out a way of doing it that wouldn't bruise the wood, so ended up with two wallpaper scrapers and the screwdriver in between to force it apart. Ging to be a slow process I fear.
Made chicken stew so we have that again tonight, I do like a one pot wonder.
I don't do that much for people who think I do, I used to be a lot busier..I'm making up for lost time :)
Not sure about today, more wood prising, and maybe the rest of the compost bin if it keeps dry [ it's not looking good though]
Good news all round yesterday then for dp1, poppy :) Good to see you SO, more hugs. TA, if only we could pull out the lost posts from the ether...enjoy your day! rr, you winged it good then! Holly, you still going to the group thing? Are there perhaps more you could join? Just general all purpose ones, for walking, or watching films etc. Have a look on Meet Ups online, just people meeting up to go and do stuff they like..I send a virtual in person hug [ bit of an oxymoron but you know what I mean]. Hows steve doing today snoozer? And how are you doing with it? Gers, great news! AOD, how fantastic, congratulations!

    Wotcha missings...
    Tempestuous Thursday!
