Seems it already has an SSD and no standard drive.

Also requires a card drive and not a sata one (yes it uses sata standard but you know what I mean!)

    Also looks a right pain.
Taking the model number from that drive on the iFixit guide, it appears to be an mSATA SSD drive, so any performance gains from upgrading are going to be negligible. However you can buy a 500GB SSD from Amazon for around £84 at time of me posting.

@HappyUser - which SSD drive did you buy?

    ??

The upgrade is to capacity, not speed.

So adding another means they don't need to touch the installation and data on the Boot drive.

OK, so which Microsoft certification qualified you to "repair boards to component level"?

I never said my Microsoft cerification qualified me to repair boards to component level, that's something you made up in your head. My BEng EE qualifies me to do that, the Microsoft certification was in Windows, Server, Exchange etc.

I think that the OP is quite clear in what he wants to do and that is to fit a second SSD into the spare slot.

If they are concerned about others accessing their data, they should simply attempt the job themselves.
