WooHoo!! I Made It!!

HMRC are on the ball this year - they've updated my record with 18-19's NI details already!!!

So that's me got the full New State Pension under my belt and banked :)

....only another 15.5 years to go to clam it

Yep. me too. I just got the bill for 2018-2019 NI voluntary contributions and went on the HMRC website to check my contributions record. I'm at 35! I must say the site is good and it's great to get a SP projection on line. So I can ignore the bill, but I will write to HMRC to get a full SP forecast for my records.

And hope they don't increase the number of years

I did as we are told - checked mine, got my forecast showing 30 years. Left work to care for my late husband and then found the years increased to 35

It won't matter, I'll be working for another 11 years anyway, should be more than enough to cover it ;)

Well, it is most likely it will increase at some point in the future, Before 2010, a man could generally get a full basic state pension with 44 years of National Insurance Contributions, and a woman could get a full pension for 39 years. It seems logical that as there are fifty years between 18 and 68, they might as well.

Not updated yet however comfortably in line to achieve shortly after reaching 55 in a few years affording me the option to retire on my personal pension with the full SP to look forward too. However I would have thought that the government would be on a very sticky wicket if they tried to increase the number of qualifying years for full SP for those who have already qualified though too young to claim and too old to find another job to contribute further NI! There is no doubt an increasing number of people in this category who would rain fire and brimstone down on Westminster.
