Does anyone know if I will be made to pay them if everything is arranged prior to this date but sign and move in on the 1st? Or if I sign before the 1st and move in on the 1st of later am I liable?? Please can someone help me!!! Thank you

Basically the law doesn't exist until June 1st. So anything you do before then is under the old rules.

    Clear as mud!

From 1 June 2019, if you enter into a tenancy agreement, student let or licence to occupy housing in the private rented sector, a landlord or agent will be prohibited from charging you any fees or other payments that are not included in the list of permitted payments above.

If you entered into a tenancy before 1 June 2019, a landlord or agent will still be able to charge fees up until 31 May 2020, but only where these are required under an existing tenancy agreement. This might include, for example, fees to renew a fixed-term agreement
    So

    1) no fees can be charged for a TA entered into after 1 June
    2) fees can be charged for a TA entered into before 1 June if it's a renewal etc
    3) for a tenancy agreement entered into before 1 June but which commences after 1 June.......??

    Ye it's really not helpful.

But the law isn't law yet. So basically whatever action you take now is under the current system.

Ergo agreeing a tenancy now would attract a fee, even if it started on june 2nd.

Another example would be: At the minute the age of consent is 16, girl gets pregnant, on june 2nd she's still pregnant but the age of consent changes to 18. No law has been broken.

Not really helpful is it! I would think that if you sign all the paperwork before 1st June then it would be the old rules?
